Islamabad: Slain Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud`s brother was shot dead by unidentified men in the restive North Waziristan tribal region of northwest Pakistan, according to a media report today.

Mehsud`s brother Yaqoob Khan was killed in Mirali, one of the main towns of North Waziristan Agency, the Express Tribune newspaper reported on its website.

The report quoted local residents as saying that Khan`s body was found in a field though it was yet to be determined who was responsible for his death.

Yahya Khan, another brother of Mehsud, was also killed.

Mehsud was killed in a drone strike in the tribal belt in August last year.

Mehsud was blamed for a string of attacks across Pakistan, including thegun-and-bomb attack that killed former premier Benazir Bhutto in 2007.

Earlier this week, a key Taliban commander named Adnan Afridi was shot dead by unidentified persons in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
