Dhaka: At least 12 people were killed when a
speeding truck hit a three-wheeler passenger van in
southwestern Bangladesh on Sunday, police said.
Eleven of them died on the spot while another succumbed
to his wounds later at a hospital, they said, adding that the
accident took place at about 3.50 pm at a place called
Saitrish in Magura district.
"The tragic incident took place as the truck initially
hit the tempo mildly causing the tempo to fell in a roadside
ditch...then the truck driver too lost control over the wheels
and ran over the tempo," district police chief Proloy
Sisim said over phone.
He said several of passengers with critical wounds were
receiving treatment a local hospital.
