Dhaka: Bangladesh Army on Friday clarified that its chief General Mohammad Abdul Mubeen did not visit Siachen glacier but only visited Leh.

"The Army chief visited (Indian) Army installation located in Leh town in Ladakh," an ISPR statement said yesterday adding that the town was 490 kilometres inside north-east of Siachen glacier of India's "it is being visited by tourists from different areas of the world every year".

"Misunderstanding between two friendly countries may be created by such news published without knowing correct information" the release said.

Mubeen went to India last week on a five-day goodwill tour on an invitation by his counterpart General Deepak Kapoor. This was his maiden tour after taking over as the chief of Army staff last year.
