A large blast in the Afghan capital was controlled explosion by authorities.

Kabul: A large blast heard shortly before noon in the Afghan capital on Monday was a controlled explosion by authorities, police said.
Despite tight security, foreign troops and government buildings in the capital have regularly become the target of bomb attacks by insurgents as violence in the near nine-year-old war grows.
Police officials said Monday`s blast was not a bomb, but instead the result of artillery training on the outskirts of the capital.
