Islamabad: A passenger train was targeted with a bomb in Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan on Wednesday though there were no reports of casualties, officials said.

The Rawalpindi-bound Quetta Express was damaged by the explosion that occurred in Mangoli area of Nasirabad district this evening.

Train services on the Sibi-Jacobabad track were suspended after the attack.

Police said unidentified attackers planted a remote-controlled explosive device on the track in Mangoli area that went off as the Quetta Express was passing by.

The blast damaged the locomotive and derailed four coaches. The blast also blew up two feet of the tracks, officials said.

There were no reports of casualties, they said.

A large contingent of security forces and police cordoned off the area and launched a search to trace the attackers.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
