Bomb blast kills three in Peshawar Islamabad: Three people were on Friday killed after a car bomb went off outside the house of an anti-Taliban tribal elder in Peshawar city of in northwest Pakistan on Friday, police said.

The attack outside the home of tribal elder Aastana Gul at Pishtakhara on the outskirts of Peshawar damaged a nearby house and a private office.

Police officials said 40 kg of explosives were used in the car bomb that was set off by remote control.

Police officials confirmed that three persons were killed and seven more injured in the attack, which they blamed on Lashkar-e-Islam, a militant group based in the lawless Khyber tribal region.

The Lashkar-e-Islam and its rival, Ansar-ul-Islam, have carried out a series of attacks on each other's members in the recent past.
