Lahore: A small bomb exploded in Pakistan`s eastern city of Lahore Thursday night, sparking panic but no casualties, police said.
A city of eight million near the border with India, Lahore has been increasingly subject to Taliban and al Qaeda-linked attacks in a nationwide bombing campaign that has killed more than 3,700 people in three years.
"A timed device of low intensity planted underneath a vehicle of police investigation team went off but there were no casualties," senior local police official Haider Ashraf said.
He said that the vehicle was parked outside a police station, adding: "The explosion caused panic in the area."
Triple suicide bombings targeting a Shi`ite mourning procession killed at least 31 people in Lahore early this month.
