British royal reporter cleared in hacking probe

Elston was arrested last month, the only person detained with no links to Murdoch`s tabloid.

London: One of the 10 people arrested on
suspicion of newspaper phone hacking and police bribery in
Britain has been cleared of wrongdoing.

Lawyer David Corker says his client, Laura Elston, a
royal reporter with the Press Association news agency, has
been "dropped from the inquiry."

Elston was arrested last month, the only person
detained who has no links to Rupert Murdoch`s shuttered
tabloid News of the World.

The phone hacking scandal began with allegations of
eavesdropping on royal voice mail messages, but has spiralled
to include allegations that celebrities, politicians and even
murder victims were targeted.

Press Association editor Jonathan Grun said today that
34-year-old Elston was "a journalist of integrity" and he was
pleased she had been cleared.
