Kathmandu: China is concerned about the growing "foreign interference" in Nepal in the pretext of adopting federalism in the country, a hardliner Maoist leader has claimed.
Mohan Vaidya, the chairman of CPN-Maoist, a breakaway faction of UCPN-Maoist, who has just returned from a goodwill visit to China, said: "The Chinese leaders have expressed concern over the increasing foreign interference in Nepal in the pretext of federating the states."
Without naming any country, he said that the Chinese leaders have cautioned him of conspiracies being hatched by some international power centres to disintegrate the country in the name of adopting a federal structure.
Vaidya described China`s concern as positive and said that Chinese leaders expressed such concern out of their wish to see stability in Nepal.
Vaidya said that he assured China that his party would not allow any forces to disintegrate Nepal.
In a question, he said, there aren`t any unequal treaties between Nepal and China, whereas there are unequal treaties between Nepal and India, which need to be scrapped.
Vaidya said that China has considered his party, CPN-Maoist, as a true nationalist force.
"China has termed CPN-Maoist as a true force fighting to safeguard the country`s national independence, besides working for the welfare of the people in the true sense," claimed Vaidya.
We had discussed with the Chinese leaders various issues of Nepalese political including the issues of federalism, said Vaidya.
China was not in favour of splitting the communist parties of Nepal, he said, adding the northern neighbour wanted strong alliance among the communist parties of Nepal.
