China to give $5 mn aid to Pakistani flood victims

Islamabad: China will provide USD 5 million in cash to Pakistan for the flood-hit people in the country.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian conveyed this to Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar during a meeting at her office.
“The Ambassador informed the Foreign Minister of the Chinese Government’s decision to give USD 5 million in cash for flood affectees. He also informed the Foreign Minister that the Chinese had recently supplied 7000 tents. China has already donated USD 4.7 million for flood victims,” the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Foreign Minister Khar appreciated China’s timely assistance and said that it was testimony to the time tested friendship between the two countries,” it added.
The Pakistan Foreign Minister and the Chinese Ambassador also exchanged views on the regional and international situation and matters of mutual interest, the statement said.
