Cold wave claims five lives in Nepal's Terai

Kathmandu: Five people have died due to cold waves in different parts of southern plains of Nepal in the last 24 hours amid snow falls leading to decrease in temperature.

Bechani Kumar, 15, and Anaridevi Mandal, 52, of Saptari district in Terai died in their homes due to cold wave yesterday, according to officials.

Bhulidevi Yadav, 40 of Siraha and Sukman Bhujuwa of Bardiya also died of cold yesterday.

Another Bamiki Singh of Sarlahi district also died due to shivering cold, the officials said Terai has been gripped with cold wave, high hills have been affected by snow fall and hilly areas of the country has witnessed decreasing temperature over the past few days.
