Islamabad: The police have not been able to access the email of murdered Pakistani journalist Saleem Shahzad, a media report said Tuesday.
Shahzad, 40, was kidnapped in Islamabad May 29 and his body, bearing marks of severe torture, was found dumped in a canal in Punjab province two days later.
He is widely believed to have been seized by intelligence officials for alleging in an article that terrorists attacked a key naval base in Karachi May 22 after the navy refused to free sailors held for suspected militant links.
The Daily Times reported that Punjab Inspector General of Police has submitted his interim investigation report in the Supreme Court that said all efforts to get access to Shahzad`s email account have proved futile.
The probe report said three experts were consulted but they could not crack open the email account, which could have been a source for the journalist`s contact list.
