Colombo: Sri Lankan government has asked
the Tamil civilians in Wanni not to be "deceived" again by the
militant groups such as the LTTE, and assured the quick
rehabilitation of internally displaced persons in the country.

Sri Lanka`s Rehabilitation and Disaster Relief
Minister Rishard Bathiudeen asked people of the north and east
not to be deceived by the "terrorists again as some elements
were attempting to make political mileage out of the people`s
problems."

Addressing a public meeting at the Vavuniya for seeing
off the displaced persons to east, he said the government is
doing everything possible to rehabilitate the IDPs.

"Today even some of those who were leaders in the LTTE
have joined the political mainstream and President Mahinda
Rajapaksa is doing everything possible to give assistance to
all communities to achieve peace and amity with development,"
he said yesterday.

Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa appealed
to the IDPs to set aside ethnic and religious differences and
rally round President Rajapaksa to bring peace and prosperity
to the country.

Once the heroic Security Forces liberated the country,
what was uppermost in the mind of President Rajapaksa was to
provide you with all possible facilities and resettle you at
your original places of residence, he said.
