Islamabad: A US drone attack killed four
suspected militants and destroyed a rebel compound in the
restive South Waziristan tribal region in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday.
The unmanned spy plane fired two missiles at a
militant compound in Zeba village west of Wana, the main town
in South Waziristan Agency, officials said.
The group to which the dead militants belonged could
not immediately be ascertained.
US drones have significantly stepped up attacks in the
tribal belt, carrying out at least 21 strikes in September ?
the highest figure for any single month since the attacks
began in 2004.
