Islamabad: Several controlled detonations
carried out by security forces on the outskirts of the
Pakistani capital today to destroy explosives seized from
terrorists caused panic among the people.
The controlled blasts were carried out in the Bara
Kahu area on the outskirts of Islamabad.
The loud explosions, which were heard from several
kilometres away, caused panic among local residents.
The explosions blew out the windows of some
residences in the area, TV news channels reported.
Several smaller explosions in the afternoon were
followed by a huge blast in the evening.
TV news channels reported that up to 600 kg of
explosive materials seized from terrorists was destroyed.
