Kabul: Five Afghan border security guards have died in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border.
General Abdul Raziq, a border security commander, said on Sunday that the bombing occurred before dawn on a heavily used road in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province.
The district is in a volatile area, which has been patrolled mostly by border security police. US troops moved into the region in July.
