Five killed in local bank attack in Afghanistan

At least four militants and a policeman were killed Tuesday when armed rebels stormed a local bank in Asadabad, the provincial capital of eastern Afghan province of Kunar, leading to a gunfight, a security official said.

 Kabul: At least four militants and a policeman were killed Tuesday when armed rebels stormed a local bank in Asadabad, the provincial capital of eastern Afghan province of Kunar, leading to a gunfight, a security official said.

"Four militants stormed a local bank in Asadabad. They seized the bank compound at around 10.30 a.m. and started firing at surrounding government office buildings," a security source told Xinhua, adding that the attackers and one policeman were killed in the incident.

He said three people, including a bank employee, were also injured.
Provincial police chief Habbiullah Sayyedkhil told Xinhua that all the militants were killed by the security forces.
