Peshawar: A man, who was recently released from jail, was shot dead along with four of his relatives who had come to receive him when unidentified assailants attacked their vehicle in Pakistan's restive Khyber-Pakthunkkhwa.
The gunmen started indiscriminate firing on a van carrying Hassan Khan, who was released from the district jail minutes ago.
Khan and four of his relatives, who had come to take him, were killed in the incident that occurred near the general bus stand at Indus Highway in Karak district in the northwestern province. One person was injured.
Khan was jailed over women dispute.
The attackers managed to escape from the crime scene in a motor car.
Meanwhile, a case has been lodged in a police station against Abdullah, Umer Khan, Sardar Ali, Taj Mohammad and Afzal for their alleged involvement in the incident. All the accused belong to the rival party.
Police have lodged a complaint and a probe is underway.
