At least five persons were killed and 15 others injured today in Nepal when two passenger buses collided on a busy highway in Dhading district.

Kathmandu: At least five persons were killed and 15 others injured today in Nepal when two passenger buses collided on a busy highway in Dhading district.

The incident occurred when a passenger bus heading towards Kakarvitta from Kathmandu collided head-on with another bus, coming to Kathmandu from Beni, said Police Constable Purusottam Adhikari.

Five persons were killed and 15 others injured in the accident, he said.

The accident took place ahead of Vijaya Dashami where people come home to celebrate with families.

The injured passengers have been brought to Kathmandu for medical treatment, the police said.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.

Accidents in Nepal are generally blamed on poorly maintained roads and vehicles.
