Five people killed in sand-mine in west Nepal

Five persons, including a teenaged girl, were killed and three others injured seriously when a sand-mine collapsed over them in western Nepal on Thursday.

Kathmandu: Five persons, including a teenaged girl, were killed and three others injured seriously when a sand-mine collapsed over them in western Nepal on Thursday.

The victims were buried under the mine when it collapsed in Dhalkanedada area of Bajhang district. Among those killed was Basanti Kumari, a 13-year-old from Kadel village, police said.

The other deceased were identified as Chakra Sarki, Dipak Sarki, Koushalya Sarki and Kittidevi KC.

Three other persons were seriously injured in the
accident, police said.

They have been admitted to local health post for
treatment.

The victims had gone to fetch sand for construction of
house of in their neighbourhood when the accident happened.
