Floods washed away several houses and killed at least 25 people at a wedding party in the northern province of Saripul.

Mazar-e-Sharif: Floods washed away several houses and killed at least 25 people at a wedding party in the northern Afghan province of Saripul late Sunday night, officials said Monday.

"The tragic incident took place in Dah Marda village, Sangcharak district late Sunday night when scores of villagers including women and children attended a wedding party," spokesman for provincial administration Farid Dehati told Xinhua. "So far 25 bodies have been recovered."

Locals believe that more than 100 people are missing in the disaster.
