Kathmandu: Nepal's former Prime Minister
Girija Prasad Koirala, admitted to a heart care centre here
after his hemoglobin level went down, was on Wednesday discharged
following improvement in his condition.
The 85-year-old president of the Nepali Congress party
was admitted to Martyrs Ganga Lal Heart Centre at Bansbari on
March 14 after the blood level in his body had gone way below
normal.
After the improvement in his hemoglobin level, Koirala
was discharged from the hospital, Nepali Congress leader
Krishna Sitaula said.
Besides infection in the lung, the former Nepalese prime
minister also had chest complications, respiratory problems
and lack of haemoglobin, doctors said.
Dr Randeep Gulariya from New Delhi's Apollo Hospital was
rushed to Kathmandu on March 14 to attend to Koirala.
Koirala, who currently stays at his daughter and Deputy
Prime Minister Sujata Koirala's home, will be kept on 24-hour
oxygen support.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress leader talked to Maoist
chairman Prachanda in the hospital before being discharged,
Sitaula said.
Koirala asked Prachanda to act in a responsible manner,
Sitaula said, apparently referring to the current political
deadlock in the country. He also said the Maoist chief wished
Koirala speedy recovery.
"I think Prachanda took positively Koirala's advice,"
Sitaula added.
