Paris: The French military says an
investigation has found that French troops mistakenly killed
four Afghan civilians and seriously wounded one during a clash
with insurgents east of Kabul.
The army says the incident occurred on April 6, as
French Mountaineer Brigade troops were fighting insurgents in
Bedraou, a section of the strategic Tagab Valley in the
foothills of the Hindu Kush just 30 miles (45 kilometres) east
of the capital.
Adm Christophe Prazuck, French military spokesman, says
French observer troops fired a missile at insurgents that hit
civilians hiding nearby and whom they hadn't seen.
