Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has conferred the status of a federal minister on the country’s ambassador to the United States, Sherry Rehman.
Pakistan’s Cabinet Division issued the notification in this regard on April 11, The Daily Times reports.
A former information minister, Sherry Rehman, was appointed Pakistan’s ambassador to the US on November 23, 2011.
She was member of the National Assembly before appointment as the ambassador to the US and was serving as the Pakistan Red Crescent Society chairperson.
Rehman was also member of the National Security Committee of Parliament and founding president of the Jinnah Institute in Islamabad, an independent public policy institute committed to regional peace and inclusive democracy in Pakistan.
