Gilani loses title of longest serving Pak PM

Tuesday’s Supreme Court verdict disqualifying took away Yousuf Raza Gilani`s name in the history as the longest serving premier.

Islamabad: Besides losing his post as Prime Minister, Tuesday’s Supreme Court verdict disqualifying took away Yousuf Raza Gilani`s name in the history as the longest serving premier.

On May 27, Gilani, after staying in office for four years, two months and two days, had created a new record in national history while surpassing the tenure of first Prime Minister of the country, Liaqat Ali Khan.

Gilani assumed power on March 25, 2008 and till today was the longest serving PM of the country. Khan had remained premier for four years, two months and one day.
However, today`s verdict which disqualifies him as a Prime Minister from April 26, makes him the second longest serving premier in the country, where once coups were the order of the day.
