Grenade attack injures 6 in Pak`s Quetta city

Islamabad: Militants today lobbed a grenade at security personnel in a crowded market in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta today, injuring 15 people including two children.

Four security personnel were among those injured in the attack in the capital of Balochistan province, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghulam Hussain Buzdar said.

Buzdar said the attackers threw the grenade in Meezan Chowk area, injuring security personnel, passers-by and vendors.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital in Quetta.

Two of them are in a critical condition, hospital officials said.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Quetta has witnessed several incidents of violence in recent days.

Unidentified men shot dead a university professor in the city yesterday.

Meanwhile, three policemen were injured in a roadside bomb attack near the northwestern city of Dera Ismail Khan, police said.

A police vehicle escorting an army convoy was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb.
