IED blast near Afghan border, two Pak Army officers killed

The blast to0k place when the officers were returning after visiting posts along Pak-Afghan border.

Islamabad: A roadside bomb went off at Bin Shahi in Upper Dir area near Pak-Afghan border, killing two Pakistani Army officers and one soldier on Sunday.

Those killed were Major General Sanaullah, Lt Colonel Tauseef and Lance Nayak Irfan Sattar.

Major General Sanaullah was General Commanding Officer (GCO) Swat Division while Tauseef was Commanding Officer 33 Baloch Regiment, said Pakistan Army’s media wing - Inter-Services Public Relations.

The blast to0k place when the officers were returning after visiting posts along Pak-Afghan border.

According to the reports, it was a blast triggered by a remote controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The incident also comes just a day after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced gradual withdrawal of troops from Malakand division starting next month.
