Imran Khan met Munter in ISI chief`s presence?

A British daily claimed that Imran Khan was introduced to US Ambassador in Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha`s presence.

Islamabad: A leading British daily has claimed that cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan had met US Ambassador Cameron Munter in the presence of ISI chief Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha, a report rejected by the Pakistani military.

A spokesman for the Inter-Services Public Relations described the report in The Sunday Times as "totally baseless and concocted".

The British daily had quoted its sources as saying that Khan was introduced to Munter in Pasha`s presence.

The report contended that Khan had the backing of the Pakistani military and intelligence set-up.

Khan`s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf party too denied the report, saying he had recently met the US envoy at the latter’s request.

This meeting was held at Khan’s home, the party said. Former premier Nawaz Sharif and other leaders of his PML-N party have alleged in recent days that Khan has the backing of the powerful security establishment.

Senior PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has alleged that Imran Khan "was backed by intelligence agencies".
