Washington: The Pentagon conducted a secret
war game this month to evaluate two different military options
in Afghanistan, being considered by President Obama in a broad
White House review of the Afghan conflict.

The war games led by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff Admiral Mike Mullen analysed the likely outcome of
sending an additional 44,000 troops and another of sending
between 10,000 to 15,000 troops to Afghanistan, a media report
said today.

Results of the war game has been made available to the
White House, where US President Barack Obama has been holding
a series of situation room meetings with his top aides to find
the right strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, according to
The Washington Post.

In a lead story, the paper quoting unnamed senior
military officials said the aim of the war game was to examine
the likely reaction of Taliban fighters, and Afghanistan and
Pakistan to either of the scenarios.

The Post, however, said one of the outcome of the war
game was that an induction of 10-15 thousand more troops would
not give the US commanders in near future the wherewithal to
snatch back crucial areas from Taliban and southern and
western Afghanistan.
