Karachi: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the country is passing through a crucial phase in its history, and stated that “India is involved in the terror incidents in the country”.
“The arms and ammunitions are being smuggled into the country from Afghanistan,” Malik told journalists at Karachi Airport after holding a meeting with Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Taqi Usmani and other clerics at Darul-Uloom Korangi.

According to The Nation, Malik was in the city to convince the Ulema to come onboard against the ongoing terrorism incidents across the country and urge them to issue a Fatwa against the suicide attacks in Pakistan.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan was also present on the occasion.

Malik urged the Ulema to play their due role in presenting the positive aspect of Islam. He said these terrorists were defaming Islam and Pakistan across the world.

He said the ongoing wave of terrorism and suicide attacks being carried out in the country stood in contradiction with the teachings of Islam.

He said he would have consultations with all the Ulema in this connection and his recent visit to Karachi primarily focussed on it.

Malik said there was need of evolving consensus against terrorism.
