Indian parliamentarians meet Gilani, Khar

The 15-member Indian delegation arrived in Pak as part of a dialogue between parliamentarians of the two countries.

Islamabad: A visiting Indian parliamentary delegation met Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar after concluding a dialogue with their counterparts here Wednesday.

The 15-member multi-party Indian delegation arrived in Islamabad Monday as part of a dialogue initiative between parliamentarians of the two countries.

The visitors met their Pakistani counterparts Tuesday and discussed ways to boost trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The MPs from both sides agreed they had a major role to play in influencing their respective governments to normalize relations, the Online news agency reported.

Two rounds of dialogues were earlier held in January 2011 in Islamabad and in August 2011 in New Delhi.

The Indian delegation included Yashwant Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha and Syed Shahnawaz Hussain (Bharatiya Janata Party), Baijayant Jay Panda, (Biju Janata Dal), Deepender Hooda, Hamdullah Sayeed and Mani Shankar Aiyar (Congress) and Rajniti Prasad (Rashtriya Janata Dal), among others.
