Islamabad, Jan 26: The Nato coalition forces in Afghanistan are using some Pakistani airbases for standby operations in the ongoing war on terror, the military said.
The coalition forces had used different airbases of the
country after the 9/11 terror attacks with the approval of the
Pakistani government, Defence Secretary Lt Gen (Retd) Tariq
Wasim Ghazi said here yesterday during a meeting of the Public
Accounts Committee.
The International Assistance Security Forces (ISAF) in
Afghanistan are still using some of the bases in emergency
situations and standby operations, he was quoted as saying by
the online news agency said.
Nonetheless, he said the bases were under the control of
Pakistan.
