Karachi: Karachi police today arrested a key
member of the Pakistani Taliban responsible for recruiting
youngsters in the terror outfit.
A senior police official of the Central Investigation
Department (CID) claimed that Nooran Gul Mehsud alias rocket,
a very close aide of the Tehreek-e-Taliban commander,
Hakimullah Mehsud was captured from Mangopir area.
"He was arrested from Mangopir area after a briefed
encounter. Nooran is also behind the killing of two policemen
in Sohrab Goth during an encounter and has also attacked other
senior police officials," SSP CID Fayyaz Khan said.
Nooran was named was the TTP chief after the death of
Baitullah Mehsud in a drone attack some months back, he said.
Khan said, police also recovered an incomplete suicidal
jacket with 20 kilograms of explosive material, two kilograms
of ball bearings, two kilograms nails, six electric timers and
wires, and one Kalashnikov from his possession.
The CID of Sindh said Nooran's arrest was a big
achievement as he was put in charge of recruiting youngsters
to the TTP and also took care of all their logistics and
financial affairs from Karachi.
