Colombo: A Sri Lankan national has claimed the ownership of a house in Wanni where LTTE chief Vellupillai Prabhakaran lived before his killing and has asked authorities to return it back to him.

The man, who is staying at a camp for displaced people in Vavuniya in Northern Sri Lanka, has demanded that the house and property be handed over to him, the Daily Mirror reported.

According to him, the house at Dharmapuram in Vishwamadu was forcibly acquired by the LTTE eight years ago.

The house is located on an acre of land in the then LTTE high security zone where the military had later discovered an underground bunker surrounded by 60 LTTE camps providing security to the Tiger supremo, it said.

However, a top military official in Colombo refused to confirm the report.

The paper pointed out the LTTE leader's personal security officer now under detention had confirmed that the man owned the house where Prabhakaran lived but it was paid for and not taken over by force.

The officials said the army would continue to occupy the house due to contradictory claims over ownership and as it was an offence to sell land to a terrorist outfit, it said.

However, the camps surrounding the house which once belonged to civilians would be returned to the rightful owners, the newspaper quoted the officials as saying.
