Dhaka: Pakistan-based terrorist group
Lashkar-e-Toiba, also blamed for the Mumbai terror attacks, had
been carrying out its activities in Bangladesh for 14 years,
an LeT-linked militant arrested here has said.
Bangladesh today announced the arrest of Mufti
Obaidullah, a top operative of India's outlawed Asif Reza
Commando Force who is also closely linked to HuJI and LeT.
Obaidullah told police that LeT had been carrying out its
activities in Bangladesh for 14 years, a newspaper reported
citing sources at the Detective Branch.
"Mufti Obaidullah had been staying in the country since
1995," said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner A K M
Shahidul Hoque.
"He (Obaidullah) had been trying to organise a jihad here
in line with the directives of Kashmir-based Laskar-e-Taiyeba
leader Ameer Reza, who is now staying in Pakistan," Hoque
added.
