Man held for abducting minor girl in Sri Lanka

Acting on a tip-off, a man has been arrested for allegedly abducting a minor girl, who was believed lost during the tsunami catastrophe in 2004 in Sri Lanka.

Colombo: Acting on a tip-off, a man has
been arrested for allegedly abducting a minor girl, who was
believed lost during the tsunami catastrophe in 2004 in Sri
Lanka.

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA)
officials said the six-year-old child was found in a house in
Colombo following a tip-off.

A man has been arrested for abducting and keeping the
child illegally, an NCPA official said.

A couple had taken the child after she lost her
parents during the tsunami in Mahamodara, Galle. The child was
a year old when she went missing in December 2004, they said.
More than 30,000 people were killed in Sri Lanka
during the tsunami six years ago.
