Kathmandu: A Maoist cadre who was the main suspect in the killing of CPN-UML cadre Prachanda Thaiba has been arrested, police said Friday.
Sujeet Bika, leader of Maoists` youth wing Young Communist League, has been arrested here, they said.
Bika was presented during a press conference here yesterday. He fled to India and entered the capital some two months ago by changing his name to Arun Thakuri,?police said.
Thaiba was gunned down by Bika in Butawal, a western Nepal town, while he was returning home on March 29, 2009, according to Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kharel, who is also the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle.
The UML had organised a nationwide strike shortly after the killing of its cadre Thaiba and the Maoist party had expelled Bika from the party membership last year as he
refused to surrender to the party.
