Peshawar: A member of an anti-Taliban militia was Thursday gunned down by militants in the restive Swat district in northwest Pakistan, police said.

Fazle Subhan, who was a member of a pro-government "peace committee" and a leader of the Awami National Party, was shot outside his residence in Dherai village after evening prayers.

The militants fired at him and fled from the spot after killing him. The head of the peace committee in Dherai and another member were recently killed by militants.
Dherai is located in Kanju sub-division, a former stronghold of the Taliban in Swat.
