Islamabad: Awami National Party leader Khan Gul Bhattani was shot dead by suspected militants in Tank area of northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, police said.
Bhattani, who headed the ANP chapter in Tank, was shot and killed in the jurisdiction of Shaheed Murid Akbar police station, officials said.
He was critically injured when the suspected militants ambushed his vehicle and succumbed to his wounds later.
The attackers managed to escape.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has killed scores of leaders and workers of the ANP, which rules Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and is part of the ruling coalition at the centre.
