Islamabad: Suspected militants attacked and torched two container trucks carrying supplies for NATO forces in Afghanistan in Balochistan in southwest Pakistan on Sunday, security officials said.

The militants attacked the trucks in Kalat district, 110 km south of provincial capital Quetta, officials of the Levies militia said.

The attackers set the trucks on fire and escaped.

Law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search to trace the attackers.

Pro-Taliban militants have destroyed hundreds of trucks and oil tankers carrying supplies and fuel to US and NATO forces in Afghanistan in attacks in northwest and southwest Pakistan over the past few years.

Dozens of people have been killed in the attacks.
