Militia commander escapes bid on life in Pak tribal belt

The commander of a militia in Pakistan`s tribal belt survived an attempt on his life on Friday when security forces defused a bomb planted in his vehicle by militants.

Peshawar: The commander of a militia in Pakistan`s tribal belt survived an attempt on his life on Friday when security forces defused a bomb planted in his vehicle by militants.
Khasadar Force commander Abdul Ghafoor Afridi had stopped at a petrol pump in Landi Kotal to refuel his vehicle when the staff detected the explosive device planted in his car, officials of the political administration in Khyber tribal region said.
Personnel of the Khasadar Force and Frontier Corps rushed to the spot and defused the bomb.

Militants in the restive Khyber Agency often target personnel of the Khasadar militia.
