Islamabad: Former President Pervez
Musharraf left Pakistan as part of a "deal" and would not
return to the country in the near future, a senior Pakistan
Muslim League (PML-Q) leader has said.
Mushahid Hussain Syyed, Secretary General PML-Q
yesterday said that Musharraf had left the country as a result
of a deal, so he would not return in the near future,
according to Geo TV.
Talking to media after Iftar-dinner organised by PML-Q in
Hyderabad in Sindh province, he said Pakistan cannot afford
the politics of reprisal at this point in time.
Mushahid also ruled out the trial of Musharraf on treason,
to the report.
Earlier talking to journalists, Syyed said, "It is we who
are to solve the issues troubling Pakistan; US President Obama
will do nothing about it".
A Pakistani court on August 10 had directed the police
to register a case against Musharraf for "illegally" detaining
members of the superior judiciary after imposing Emergency in
2007, two weeks after the Supreme Court declared his actions
as "unconstitutional."
The former President is currently based in London.
