Musharraf`s farmhouse made "satellite facility" of hospital

Islamabad: In an unprecedented move, the farmhouse of former Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf has been declared as a "satellite facility" of the military hospital where he was admitted for three months following heart problems.

A statement issued on the Twitter handle of the 70-year-old former President said, "the home of General Musharraf has been declared a satellite facility of the military hospital".

The announcement came a day after he was shifted from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi to his sprawling Chak Shehzad farmhouse on the outskirts of the city.

Musharraf was admitted to the AFIC on January 2 when he complained of heart problems on his way to a special court set up for his high treason trial for abrogating the constitution and detaining judges in 2007.

The statement on Twitter said he is under constant supervision of a team of qualified military doctors.

"A flying medical squad is assigned to the farmhouse and is capable of transporting him back to AFIC when needed," it said.

Meanwhile, the anti-terrorism court here, which was hearing the judges` detention case against Musharraf, ordered him to appear in person at the next hearing on April 25.

The court also directed Musharraf`s guarantors to ensure he is present for the next hearing, Dawn News reported.

During the hearing, Musharraf`s counsel presented the ex-army strongman`s medical report and said he could not appear in court due to security reasons.

The court accepted Musharraf`s application requesting exemption from today`s hearing and adjourned for the day.

The judges` detention case, based on an FIR against the retired general by lawyer Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman, was registered in August 2009.

Ghumman had sought legal proceedings be initiated against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including then chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in Pakistan on November 3, 2007.
