Kathmandu: Top Nepalese and Indian Maoist leaders met earlier this month in an undisclosed location in India, a local daily has claimed, drawing strong reaction from the former rebels here who termed it as "totally false and baseless" news.
Maoist politburo member Indramohan Sigdel 'Basanta' held meetings with Indian Maoist leaders, including Kishenji, from October 8 to 11, 'Rajdhani' daily reported. The content of the discussion was not disclosed.
However, Maoist spokesman Dinanath Sharma denied the news report. "It is totally false and baseless," he said when his reaction was sought.
None of the Nepalese Maoist leaders met Indian Maoist leaders as mentioned by the newspaper, he said, adding the news is totally wrong and provocative.
The Maoist central committee meeting held three months ago had decided to move forward with discussions with international Maoist organisations, including Coordination Committee of Maoist Parties and Organisations of South Asia (CCOMPOSSA) and Revolutionary International Movement (RIM), the daily reported, quoting Maoist sources.
This was the first such meeting between Indian and Nepal's Maoist parties under the umbrella of CCOMPOSA, it said. Nepalese and Indian Maoists are key members of CCOMPOSA.
According to sources, Indian Maoists were not satisfied with the political line adopted by the Nepalese Maoists, who joined peaceful politics three years ago.
