Kathmandu: Amid growing criticism of the government for its failure to maintain peace and security in Nepal, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the problems lie within the police organisation and some of its officials who were found to be involved in criminal activities.

"Incompetent police personnel were found having nexus with the criminals," the prime minister said at a function here on Friday and directed the authorities to take action against them.

The problems lie within the police organisation to maintain peace and security in the country, he said. His remarks came at a time when the government is facing widespread criticism for failing to take action against those involved in the murder of two media entrepreneurs within a month.

Inaugurating the Nepal Pharma Expo-2010 in the capital today, Nepal said the government is committed to maintaining law and order in the country and urged all sectors to help in this effect.

Nepal also urged the entrepreneurs to provide necessary information to the security bodies and not to hide information if they feel insecure.

"Insecurity, energy crisis and trade union's strikes by keeping unnecessary demands are commons problems faced by the industries in Nepal," the PM said and assured that the government is sensitive towards resolving these issues.
