Kathmandu: A range of issues, including
Chinese assistance for Nepal's infrastructure development, are
expected to figure in talks Premier Madhav Kumar Nepal will
have with the leadership in Beijing during his six-day maiden
visit to the neighbouring country beginning on Saturday.
Nepal will be accompanied by a 36-member delegation,
including spouse Gayatri, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Sujata Koirala, Minister for Finance Surendra Panday and
Minister for Energy Prakash Sharan Mahat during his visit.
Infrastructure development, cooperation in tourism and
hydropower sectors will be the key issues to figure in
discussions between Nepal and his Chinese counterpart Wen
Jiabao in Beijing, according to Foreign Ministry sources.
This will be the first visit to China by Prime Minister
Nepal after he assumed the top post in May, 2009.
Unlike his predecessor Prachanda, who chose China as
the first neighbouring country to pay a visit after assuming
charge, Prime Minister Nepal chose India for his maiden
foreign trip.
