Kathmandu: Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday met President Ram Baran Yadav at the latter's office at Sheetal Niwas here during which the two leaders discussed the situation emerged after the refusal of Vice-President to take a fresh oath in Nepali language.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to resolve the issue that emerged after Vice-President Parmananda Jha refused to take a fresh oath in Nepali language as per the court's order, the sources at the President's office said.

Jha last year took oath of office in Hindi language breaking the tradition and triggering nationwide protests.

The Supreme Court yesterday issued a show-cause notice to Jha for holding the post without taking a fresh oath in Nepalese language.

A single bench of Justice Bharat Raj Upreti issued the notice after the hearing. The bench has sought written explanation from the defendants within 15 days on why Jha was not abiding by the apex court order.

Last month, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order asking Jha to take a fresh oath if he wants to continue in his office. However, Jha has termed the court decision as biased. On Friday, President Yadav also requested Jha to follow the court's order during an informal meeting, sources close to the President said.
