Police in Nepal say they are investigating the killing of a journalist whose body was found near a bus station in an eastern town.

Katmandu: Police in Nepal say they are investigating the killing of a journalist whose body was found near a bus station in an eastern town.

Police official Mohan Sharma said the body of Yadav Poudel was found Wednesday morning near the Birtamod bus station. He is believed to have been killed around midnight.

Sharma said the body has knife wounds and has been sent for an autopsy.

Poudel was the local correspondent for Avenues Television.

Rights groups in Nepal condemn the killing and demand that the government find and punish the assailants.
