Dhaka: M Tafazzul Islam was on Wednesday sworn in
as Bangladesh's new Chief Justice with President Zillur Rahman
administering his oath of office.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her
cabinet members, outgoing Chief Justice and other former chief
justices attended the ceremony at Bangabhaban (President's
House).
Rahman had appointed Islam, a judge of the apex Court as
the Chief Justice of Bangladesh on December 15.
Justice Islam headed an apex appellate division of the
Supreme Court bench, formed for the appeal hearing of
Bangladesh's founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder
case.
