Kathmandu: Nepal's Election Commission has asked the caretaker government to amend all the laws relating to poll by July 22 if it intends to conduct fresh elections for the Constituent Assembly on November 22.

"The Election Commission is prepared to hold the election on November 22 as directed by the government but for this the laws governing the election must be placed before July 22," said Sharda Prasad Trital, spokesperson of the Commission.

The EC, in a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has demanded the 13 provisions in the Election Act, Interim Constitution, Election Commission Act, Voter List Act and Constituent Assembly Election Act be amended.

He said that the commission is making all kinds of preparations for conducting the election as per the government's directives.

He said that the EC is ready to incorporate new voters if necessary rules and regulations are ready and the eligible voters apply before 75 days of holding the election.
